Business Champions: Bee Creative Art Hub

Updated: Feb 14, 2020

Bee Creative Art Hub is an art studio /shop located at Merton Abbey Mills. Bee Creative run art, music and drama classes for children that are designed to support imagination and creativity through a fun relaxing environment. In addition they also run adults art and craft workshops creating a place to learn and develop a new skill while socialising with other budding artists.

Why is sustainability important to you?

We care about the environment and want to educate the younger generation about sustainability issues. We believe that little things make a difference and we are willing to give our space and time to show how we can be sustainable every day.

What are you currently doing to run a more sustainable business?

Our new project this year is to rebuild our Merton Abbey Mills memorial garden. The garden will host herbs and flowers and benches and fences made out of reclaimed wood. There will also be water drinking areas for wildlife, bird feeders and a bug hotel. We are also organising art exhibitions where children donate their pictures to be sold and the money raised will go to local charities. Within the studio we hold workshops for upcycling furniture, sell eco-friendly art materials and reuse cardboard and packaging where possible.

Why would you encourage other businesses to become a Business Champion?

Being a Business Champion provides the opportunity for businesses to showcase their green credentials and learn from each other to become even more sustainable in their activities.

What are your long term/short term sustainability objectives?

Our long term objective is to continue educating people on how to be sustainable through up-cycling furniture and reusing old things to new again. We want to be an example of living and doing sustainable business to others.
